About The Position

Nosis Bio is a well-funded biotech startup focused on cell-specific delivery of RNA therapeutics. Its multidisciplinary team combines expertise in receptor biology, generative AI, and high-throughput in vivo data generation to develop RNA therapeutics for new tissues and address unmet industry needs. The Research Associate I/II/Senior Research Associate will conduct molecular biology-based assays to evaluate the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of therapeutic candidates. The role requires hands-on experience with high-throughput molecular biology assays and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to support drug discovery projects. The position is based on site in the company's laboratory at Research Park at Marina Village in Alameda, California. The specific title level depends on academic and professional experience.

Requirements

  • Ability to work on site in the laboratory in the California Bay Area, at Research Park at Marina Village in Alameda, California.
  • Motivation, proactivity, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Team orientation and openness to collaboration across scientific disciplines.
  • For Research Associate I: undergraduate degree and 0–2 years of industry experience, or similar experience.
  • For Research Associate II: bachelor's degree with 2–4 years of industry experience, or master's degree with 0–2 years of industry experience, or similar experience.
  • For Senior Research Associate: bachelor's degree with 4+ years of industry experience, or master's degree with 2+ years of industry experience, or similar experience.

Responsibilities

  • Execute routine molecular biology workflows, including RNA/DNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, PCR/RT-qPCR, and ddPCR.
  • Prepare reagents, buffers, and master mixes, and maintain clean, RNase-free work practices.
  • Process samples from cells, tissues, and biofluids, including homogenization, lysis, cleanup, quantification, and normalization.
  • Maintain accurate, real-time documentation in the electronic lab notebook, including protocols, deviations, and raw data traceability.
  • Perform data quality control and basic analysis, including standard curves, ddCt, and acceptance criteria, and summarize results for team review.
  • Support assay development and optimization, including primer/probe evaluation, thermal gradient optimization, input range testing, inhibition checks, and repeatability testing.
  • Maintain mammalian cell cultures, including immortalized, engineered, and primary cells, using aseptic technique; perform thawing, passaging, cryopreservation, cell counting and viability assessment, routine mycoplasma testing, and cell preparation for downstream assays.
  • Use automated liquid handlers and other lab automation for plate-based assays, and help develop, program, and validate instrument protocols, including verifying accuracy and precision against manual methods.
  • Manage molecular and cell biology consumables inventory, coordinate ordering, monitor reagent lot changes, and qualify new lots when needed.
  • Troubleshoot core laboratory equipment, including qPCR/ddPCR instruments, plate readers, centrifuges, and biosafety cabinets, and escalate service needs appropriately.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure samples are collected, labeled, stored, and transferred correctly.
  • Share results across the company with clear context, controls, and interpretation.
