About The Position

This role is responsible for efficiently operating Molding equipment and machines used in the quality manufacture of automobile directional control system components. The Molding Technician is responsible for all aspects of the molding process and has the authority to stop production for quality or safety concerns, initiate non-conformance reports for daily rejects, and document/dispose of non-conforming material with existing codes. The position requires setting up and tearing down equipment, troubleshooting and maintaining molding equipment, collaborating with production associates and R&D to meet component requirements, and managing raw molding materials to ensure traceability and prevent contamination. Additionally, the role involves drafting and performing mold validations, operating production equipment, performing quality checks, preventative maintenance, and pre-operation checks. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment is crucial. This position also serves as a backup Team Leader and may perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must be a team player
  • Must be trained as Molding Operator
  • Must be able to follow mold change and set up instructions for the machines and PM molds
  • Must be able to operate the crane as well as complete daily inspections
  • Prolonged periods of standing and performing repetitive tasks
  • Must be able to lift up to 32 pounds at a time
  • Must have manual dexterity in order to assemble products or machines as directed
  • Must have excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to differentiate between colored wires, tabs, and electronic components
  • Must wear gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, and ear protection, per the Elemental Operations Instructions Safety Points

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and tear down of equipment
  • Troubleshoot and maintain molding equipment
  • Work with production associates and R&D to ensure molded components meet requirements, making adjustments as required
  • Provide molded components in a timely manner in order to ensure production schedules are met
  • Manage raw molding materials in a way that ensures traceability and prevents contamination
  • Drafting and performing mold validations
  • Operate production equipment as assigned by Team Leader
  • Perform quality checks as required in the product process
  • Perform preventative maintenance as required
  • Perform pre-operation checks on machines and equipment
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Serve the role as back up Team Leader
  • Other duties as assigned
