The purpose of an effective Molding Operator is to hold safety as a value, demonstrate safe work practices, and notify anyone of an unsafe situation. They should be able to work as a cohesive team, identify problems, and recommend improvements to provide quality, on-time products to customers.

Requirements

  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.

  • Ability to safely remove molded parts from hot presses.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be flexible with work schedules and work overtime as required.
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to learn and be an active participant in training.
  • Ability to communicate well in both verbal and written forms.
  • Ability to generate reporting documents and participate in team meetings.
  • Self-motivated with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Good general ability with use of computer touch screens and written documents.
  • Basic math skills, ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to stand while operating molding equipment for extended periods of time, walk, use hands to feel or handle objects, tools, or controls.
  • Reach and lift with hands and arms; talk, see and hear.
  • Moderate to heavy physical labor required lifting enclosures.
  • Use of hands and wrists continuously.
  • Must be able to carry, push, pull or lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Molded parts and material regularly weigh up to 20 lbs.
  • Engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and pulling of parts.
  • The associate may need to be available for extended shift hours if needed and assist in emergency situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Experience operating hand tools a plus.
  • Capable of growing in knowledge and demonstrating competency in your job.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety guidelines, practices, and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Consistently meet production schedule plan and attainment goals by efficiently removing molded parts from press, deflashing, and cutting sprue off, as needed.
  • Start and shutdown assigned press and identify and correct any press problems as they occur.
  • Learn different equipment/operations and rotate to all workstations within the area.
  • Maintain a constant visual on parts produced and perform visual quality audits to determine all surfaces are within standards.
  • Communicate product quality issues to appropriate parties.
  • Follow company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and workstation areas.
  • Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Targeted reduction in waste of all forms (time, materials, labor).
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, group leads and business unit managers.
  • Use hand tools, hammer, pick, pry bar, putty knife, utility knife, pin gauges, flex arm, etc.
  • Create and continually improve upon a culture of teamwork, accountability, and trust by modeling expectations and providing positive feedback to drive desired behaviors.
  • Document and submit performance reporting as required.
  • Gain knowledge and keep up to date on safety and quality regulatory notices.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance and punctuality per company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
