About The Position

The Cell Lead (Mold) is responsible for all of the daily and long-term operations, performance output and personnel within molding manufacturing. They are responsible to participate and support as equal partner with the other shift’s Cell Leaders.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong leadership, communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Intermediate computer, reading, math and written skills preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and be well organized in a fast-paced multi-faceted work environment
  • Ability to use basic measuring, hand and power tools (Calipers, Micrometer, Pin Gauge, etc)
  • Ability to work with various individuals and departments in a team environment
  • Self-motivated and able to motivate team members
  • Ability to provide team support and assistance to co-workers as needed
  • Quality conscious attitude and pride of ownership in designated responsibilities
  • Ability to pass Visual Aids Training Test
  • Ability to pass visual acuity and color recognition test
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints
  • Ability to read and apply the Standard Work Instructions (SWIs)

Responsibilities

  • Leads and supervises production personnel
  • Ensures production personnel are trained and developed (utilizing support staff as needed); including new temp/hire orientation, standard operating procedures, and technical training
  • Collaborates with Mold Supervisor/Assistant Molding Manager in managing the production schedule and work cell priorities to ensure on time delivery (OTD); resolving scheduling and resource conflicts as needed
  • Keeps the schedule board and ERP system current at all times
  • Optimizes production labor productivity by maintaining balance between labor and schedule requirements; ensuring that a shift is not over/under staffed
  • Monitors individual productivity, quality and scrap/rework; taking corrective action when standards are not met
  • Coordinates with other departments to add/move labor in response to workload fluctuations
  • Ensures that quality checks are routinely performed (utilizing support staff as needed) on all operations within manufacturing; ensuring that customer specifications are met and scrap/rework is minimized
  • Optimizes machine uptime; minimizes machine idle, downtime, and setup times by coordinating the activities of process technicians and material handlers to ensure that material, tools and documentation is pre-staged, and that setups/tear downs are conducted efficiently
  • Conducts training and audits to ensure that 5S principles and levels are improved and sustained
  • Monitors and ensures data accuracy of the production data and support documentation (MAPICs data entry, SWI, and MO’s); making corrections as needed
  • Ensures that process improvements are captured within updates to support documentation (e.g. SWI, MO)
  • Collects and visually displays performance metric data (OTD, direct labor utilization, quality returns, scrap and rework, machine utilization, and 5S); utilizing data to track and drive process improvement efforts
  • Completes labor operations (closes jobs) for manufacturing work orders to ensure timely and accurate job close out
  • Performs the duties of a Mold Machine Operator as needed
