About The Position

Amcor is seeking a Mold/Tool Setter to join their team. This role is responsible for reporting to the Tool Lead and working as a team member to achieve plant and departmental goals. The primary duties involve installing and removing molds in injection mold machines, establishing optimum processes for production start-up, and maximizing cavitation for production. The Mold/Tool Setter will also replace mold components as needed and recommend tooling and machine improvements for repairs, processes, yields, and scrap reduction. Effective communication with shift personnel regarding part quality, equipment, special instructions, corrective actions, and productivity is essential. This position assists in improving all production cell set-ups, including process, cycles, and scrap reduction, to enhance efficiency. The role involves communicating with other departments and leadership on technical issues, providing technical assistance to maintain productivity, and checking tooling, machines, and auxiliary equipment to identify issues and create work orders for support departments. Compliance with government regulations, including EPA, MSDS, Lock/Out-Tag/Out, and safety standards, is required. The Mold/Tool Setter will also train and mentor other technicians, update documentation, stay current on new technology, perform housekeeping duties, conduct weekly checks on mold chillers and press lubrication, uphold Life Saving Rules, and work according to ISO Standards, SOPs, and Work Instructions. The role also requires upholding Quality Standards and following Quality Absolutes. The position contributes to safety, quality, and GMP by supporting workgroup accomplishments with quality, timeliness, and professionalism, applying resources effectively, maintaining a safe work environment, adhering to procedures, performing self-checks, and reporting quality problems and procedural compliance issues to management. Recommendations for improving quality and efficiency are also expected, along with completing Near Miss and Observations in GDC as required.

Requirements

  • Capable of physical mobility including sitting, bending, twisting, standing, and lifting.
  • Capable of reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Capable of operating a forklift in a safe and cautious manner, certified.
  • Some computer experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to solve problems, interpret instructions in numerous formats
  • Basic math skills with the ability to use rulers, micrometers, calipers & other measuring devices
  • Capable of lifting up to 35lbs periodically.
  • Capable of complying with all Safety requirements including the use of PPE: PPE includes but is not limited to Bump Cap or Hard Hat, Safety Eyewear or Prescription Safety Eyewear, Safety Shoes, and Hearing Protection.
  • Capable of maintaining an attendance record within Company guidelines and working required overtime.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Negative drug screen results.
  • Work in a safe manner
  • Ability to interpret work orders.

Responsibilities

  • Report to Tool Lead.

  • Replace mold components as needed.
  • Recommends tooling and/or machine improvements for mold repairs, processes, yields, scrap, waste, etc.
  • Effectively communicate with the shift personnel regarding part quality, equipment, special instructions, corrective action and productivity
  • Responsible for assisting in the improvement of all production cells set-ups, including process, cycles, scrap reduction or any areas that lead to improved efficiency.
  • Communicates with other departments &/or leadership on technical issues.
  • Provide technical assistance in maintaining expected levels of productivity to fulfill scheduling and quality requirements.
  • Assists other technical personnel in trouble-shooting process for cost effective solutions.
  • Checks tooling, machines and auxiliary equipment to identify issues and provides work orders to appropriate support departments.
  • Comply with government regulations in adherence of EPA, MSDS, Lock/Out-Tag/Out and all other proper safety standards.
  • Trains and mentors other technicians in on-the-job mold set routines.
  • Updates and maintains relevant documentation or procedures when changes occur.
  • Keeps current on new technology and developments in regards to areas of responsibility.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as needed or assigned
  • Weekly checks on mold chillers and press lubrication.
  • Uphold Life Saving Rules.
  • Work and perform to ISO Standards, SOPs and established Work Instructions.
  • Uphold Quality Standards and follow the Quality Absolutes.
  • Other tasks as assigned
