Schaefer Plastics is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mold Technician to ensure the optimal performance of our injection molding machines and equipment. Requirements

  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience as a Mold Technician or in a similar role within injection molding.
  • Familiarity with operating shop equipment (e.g., milling machine, band saw, lathe, drill press, welder, etc.) is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work with both powered and non-powered hand tools with precision and safety.
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D/3D CAD files for mold setup and adjustments.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to meet production schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, start, and change out molds in injection molding machines.
  • Ensure machines are operating efficiently with minimal downtime.
  • Perform diagnostics on injection molds and auxiliary equipment, making necessary adjustments and repairs using a wide range of shop equipment.
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance on machines and molds to ensure continuous high-quality production.
  • Maintain accurate records of mold changes, machine adjustments, and part inventories.
  • Utilize shop equipment such as milling machines, band saws, lathes, drill presses, and welders to maintain molds and tooling.
  • Communicate proactively with team members and supervisors regarding any parts or equipment needs.
