About The Position

As a Mold Setup Technician at IPL you will be responsible for setting up and removing molds, preparing molds for production startup, and performing insert changeovers. You will also conduct preventive mold maintenance, inspect molds for defects, and document quality issues. This role involves assisting with off-line maintenance, in-process troubleshooting, and mold repairs. Additionally, you will be responsible for general housekeeping, maintaining a safe work environment, and ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of mold components, tools, and equipment. The technician will maintain plastic injection molds and equipment in optimal running condition, work independently with strong technical knowledge and good communication skills, and follow all internal and OSHA required safety procedures. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting measuring devices, setting and securing molds into molding machines, and connecting/disconnecting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic connections. Adherence to Lock Out/Tag Out rules and work instructions is mandatory, along with performing other related job tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • At least 3 or more years of experience in a technical, hands-on position
  • Experience working on plastic injection molds
  • Strong technical knowledge
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to read, use and interpret measuring devices, gauges and inspection tools.
  • Ability to follow all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
  • Ability to follow all Lock Out/Tag Out rules and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and removal of molds, prepare molds for production startup and perform insert change overs for production.
  • Perform preventive mold maintenance as per instruction and assigned intervals.
  • Inspect mold for defects and document part quality issues.
  • Assist with off-line bi-annual preventive mold maintenance and required mold services.
  • Assist with any in process troubleshooting and mold repairs.
  • Do general housekeeping around the presses and maintain safe work environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety and functionality of mold components, tools and equipment.
  • Maintain plastic injection molds and equipment is in optimal running condition.
  • Work independent with strong technical knowledge and good communication skills.
  • Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.

  • Position, set and secure mold into molding machine, connect or disconnect mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic connections.
