This position is responsible for performing all aspects of entry-level mechanics and higher levels of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs. Functions include minor electrical repairs such as switches, solenoids, heater bands, relays, contractors, starters, and pyro-meters. Hydraulic repairs include oil leaks, pilot valves, and cylinders, hydraulic hoses and tubing lines. Basic hydraulic circuit modification is also a function. The role requires the ability to replace toggle pins and links, guide rods, bushings, tie bars, and setting tie bar strain. Rebuilding of pumps with limited supervisor guidance is expected. Repair of directional valves and flow controls is also part of the role. A complete command of mold setting, operation settings, and performing all safety checks is necessary. Basic welding and cutting projects, including torches and power tools, are required. The position performs appropriate cleaning of press tie bars, ways, and drop area to prevent grease and oil related rejections. The employee maintains a neat and orderly work area, keeping walkways and aisles clear. General housekeeping duties such as sweeping and trash removal are also performed. When work in the primary classification is not available, the employee may perform other duties according to skill and availability.
