About The Position

Aptar is seeking a Mold Maker based in Lincolnton, NC. As a Mold Maker, you will plan, lay out and perform all bench, machine and finishing operations required to alter and condition intricately designed and constructed plastic injection molding dies and related fixtures. You will work from special instructions to either maintain or alter molds to achieve improvements to the original design. You will monitor mold performance and inspect your own work or work performed by other tool workers. You will operate all Toolroom machines and perform difficult machine set-ups and operations that require improvising of tools and machines for adaptation beyond the normal range and capacities of available equipment. You will instruct Toolmakers, Machinists and Technicians in the performance of their duties, including training new employees. You will attend and participate in design reviews and provide outside molder interaction and support. You will manage mold rebuilds, various extensive engineering projects and design modifications to current and new molds. You will support and adhere to all system procedures and Company policies/procedures, and have a working knowledge of SQF and GMP procedures. You will perform other related duties assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • State indentured apprenticeship or equivalent knowledge of tooling trade, plastic molding techniques and material characteristics.
  • The ability to understand and read blueprints.
  • Basic computer operation skills with current software operating systems and programs.
  • Ability to work alone with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to work with associates from all levels of the organization.
  • Completion of fork truck training and the ability to operate fork trucks safely.
  • Completion of overhead crane training and the ability to operate overhead crane safely.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years Toolmaker experience preferred.
  • This position requires the ability to stand for the entire shift, as well as constant mobility on a daily basis. Additionally, this position requires ability to move within/between departments and facilities.
  • This position requires the ability to review items closely and have color recognition.
  • This position requires pushing, pulling, lifting, moving and/or carrying up to 75 pounds.
  • This position requires the ability to twist and bend to reach into awkward spaces.
  • This position requires frequent exposure to fumes and odors.
  • This position requires hand and finger dexterity.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Food and Beverage industry is a plus.
