Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ten (10) years of related experience as a Mold Maker.
  • Ability to work independently and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong commitment to quality and ensuring established standards are met.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Effective time management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform final inspections, complete work documentation, maintain material identification, and move workpieces as required.
  • Fit and assemble molds, including transferring and locating holes; fitting and sizing mold components; checking cooling and heating circuits; installing mold components in the spotting press; spotting and final-inspecting molds; installing ejector and runner system components; checking assembled molds; and completing required documentation.
  • Repair molds used to mass-produce plastic or metal components and products.
  • Perform work-in-progress measurements and inspections using specialized and precision tools and equipment.
  • Communicate potential tooling problems, issues, or questions to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace and materials.
  • Maintain continuity between shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs using paper and/or electronic logs.
  • Devise and detail mold-building plans, including verifying mold component features, organizing the build process, performing calculations, assembling and verifying tooling stock materials, producing detailed sketches, building tooling aids, and laying out and producing templates.
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and work-process documentation.
  • Use an overhead crane to transport molds and mold components throughout the shop and set up molds in presses weighing up to 50,000 lbs.
  • Use a forklift to transport molds and mold components throughout the shop and prepare them for tryouts weighing up to 5,000 lbs.
  • Adhere to customer standards for tool designs and internal lean manufacturing guidelines.
  • Maintain safe operations by keeping the work area clean and organized and following all safety procedures and regulations.
  • Participate in required meetings and training as requested.
