About The Position

This role focuses on the maintenance and repair of tooling, including processing new tooling according to established procedures and schedules. The technician will maintain the condition of deck, hull, and tooling through minor repairs or major refurbishments based on a scheduled rotation.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Regularly required to work at, lifting parts and pieces up to 50 lbs., traveling up and down stairs on a constant basis, sitting, squatting, and bending in various awkward positions for certain lengths of time - including working overhead, traveling in and out of work areas, walking and being on your feet for most of the workday.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair tooling.
Process new tooling in accordance with established procedures and schedules.
Maintain the condition of deck, hull, and tooling via minor repair or major refurbish according to the scheduled rotation.
Use various air-powered and hand tools to strip, buff, grind, sand, and finish gelcoat and fiberglass tooling.
Use a paint gun to apply tooling gelcoat.
Use chemical strippers, cleaners, sealers, and release agents.
Identify and classify defects in mold surfaces by feel and sight, including scratches, pits, dents, and swirl marks.
Apply high energy, self-motivation, and initiative to learn and be trained on various types of equipment and processes.
Use high-speed pneumatic power tools safely and effectively, such as buffers, sanders, and grinders.
Read drawings and specifications.
Complete required documentation of finished parts for production purposes.
Manage daily job duties which will be varied and dynamic.
Track workload via daily schedules and assignments, requiring responsibility and accountability for quality and timeliness of completion.
Perform job functions safely and effectively in a fast-paced, noisy environment while wearing all required PPE (including eye, hearing, etc.).
Practice good housekeeping.
Perform other duties as assigned.
