About The Position

MSI Mold Builders is hiring a full-time Mold Designer in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The role uses Solid Modeling CAD software, such as Creo or Solidworks, to create models, drawings, and bills of materials for plastic injection molds. The designer also uses CAD software to analyze part models, calculate mass properties, and perform interference checks. Responsibilities include completing injection and structural foam mold designs using part models supplied by OEMs. Designs include parting-line splits, cooling, ejection, and mechanisms intended to be cost-effective for MSI to manufacture and robust for customers.

Requirements

• High school diploma and working toward an associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills.
• Safety-minded.
• Self-motivated and goal-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Use Solid Modeling CAD software, such as Creo or Solidworks, to create models, drawings, and bills of materials for plastic injection molds.
• Use CAD software to analyze part models, calculate mass properties, and perform interference checks.
• Complete injection and structural foam mold designs from OEM-supplied part models.
• Design parting-line splits, cooling, ejection, and mechanisms that are cost-effective to manufacture and robust for customers.
