About The Position

The Dermatology Department at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center is seeking a Mohs Technician at any level (I, II, or III) to support Mohs micrographic surgery within our laboratory. Whether you are beginning your laboratory career or bringing advanced histotechnology experience, we welcome candidates across all levels. This role supports precise tissue preparation and frozen section analysis to ensure accurate surgical margin assessment and high-quality patient care. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week day shift position, working Monday through Friday; no weekends or holidays required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

  • Previous laboratory or healthcare experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory safety and specimen handling.
  • Ability to follow step-by-step instructions with accuracy.
  • Attention to detail in labeling and recording.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Dependability and willingness to learn new techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, label, and prepare tissue specimens
  • Assist with embedding, sectioning, staining, and coverslipping
  • Maintain documentation and specimen tracking
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized lab environment
  • Follow infection prevention and laboratory protocols
  • Receives, labels, and prepares tissue and fluid specimens for processing.
  • Assists in embedding, cutting, and staining tissue sections under supervision.
  • Helps with staining and coverslipping slides for microscopic review.
  • Records results and assists with specimen documentation.
  • Cleans and stores laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains a safe, organized, and well-stocked work area.
  • Adheres to infection prevention, safety, and hospital laboratory protocols.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
