About The Position

Vail Health is seeking a board-certified dermatologist with fellowship training in Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery to join their team in Avon, Colorado. This role involves providing comprehensive dermatologic services, specializing in the precise removal of skin cancer tumors using the Mohs micrographic surgery technique, and functioning as an independent healthcare provider.

Requirements

  • Board certification or eligibility in dermatology and/or dermatopathology
  • Fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery
  • Medical doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty.
  • Federal DEA Certification: Medical Specialty License or Certification, Board Certified or Board eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialt

Responsibilities

  • Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for a specified patient population.
  • Perform Mohs micrographic surgery procedures to remove skin cancer tumors.
  • Interpret histopathologic findings of tissue specimens obtained during surgery to assess tumor margins and ensure complete removal of cancerous cells.
  • Prescribes or administers pharmaceuticals, other medications, immunizations, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
  • Provides health and wellness advice to patients, including diet, physical activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • Monitors patients' conditions and progress, re-evaluating treatments, and explains procedures and test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
  • Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
  • May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function.
  • Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  • As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.
