About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse functions in the physician office or ambulatory care practice to provide nursing services in an office setting. This position works as part of a care team to improve the execution of quality requirements, increase throughput, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall patient experience. (This is a full-time position that will support the Dermatology team at SouthPark, Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm)

Requirements

  • Certification of Licensed Practical Nurse with current license to practice in NC required.
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of practical nursing required.
  • Previous medical office experience preferred.
  • Maintain American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification
  • Completion of Hepatitis B Vaccine and Flu Vaccine Form will be required. Candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.
  • Completion of TB test will be required.
  • Minimum of one-year professional nursing experience, clinic experience preferred.
  • Work consistently requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift and support weight of 35 pounds.
  • Ability to concentrate on details.
  • Use of computer for long periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a LPN in a Dermatology, Mohs Surgery, or other surgical setting is strongly preferred, but not required.
  • Previous knowledge of dermatology and skin care treatment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient examination, biopsies, Mohs Surgery and other surgical procedures, dressing changes, and suture removals.
  • Scribing for the provider by thoroughly and accurately documenting the examination, findings, and treatment plans.
  • Educate patients on treatment plans, expectations, and post-operative instructions.
  • Relay pathology and laboratory results to patients.
  • Respond to urgent and emergency situations as needed.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care or arrange for the provision of appropriate care, for patients, as pertinent to the scope of nursing practice and specialty of the office setting.
  • Appropriately and accurately documents all patient care/interactions in patient medical record.
  • Participates in telephone triage by obtaining clinically appropriate data and symptoms from the patient and advises and instructs patients according to established protocols and/or orders from the provider.
  • Ensures that all ordered laboratory and diagnostic tests are tracked and logged, and that the provider is presented with all test results.
  • Check vital signs, height, weight and assist with reviewing medication history and updating medication list.
  • May assist with satisfaction of pertinent health maintenance requirements.
  • Assists providers during procedures and examinations and performs instrument and room clean-up.
  • Utilizes standard precautions.
  • Reports patient's condition and reaction to the provider following procedures, medication administration, or treatments.
  • Assists with patient inquiries for prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and referral authorization as needed.
  • Participates in electronic documentation of care at the direction of the provider.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
