About The Position
This role involves working with Mohs surgery specimens, preparing tissue samples for microscopic examination. The histotechnician will be responsible for processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining tissue samples to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Histotechnology program or equivalent experience.
- Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) preferred.
- Proficiency in tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining techniques.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and regulations.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Mohs surgery specimens.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS).
Responsibilities
- Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination.
- Process, embed, section, and stain tissue samples.
- Ensure accuracy and quality of all prepared slides.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Adhere to all safety and laboratory protocols.
