About The Position

Imagine what you can do here. Apple is a place where extraordinary people gather to do their lives best work. Together we create products and experiences people once couldn't have imagined, and now, can't imagine living without. It's the diversity of those people and their ideas that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do. APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Investigate state-of-the-art mechanical designs and technologies, innovating ways to further improve Apple display performance, and enabling strong and compact system designs; Define the module mechanical architecture based on optical, electrical, mechanical, and other cross-functional requirements; Work with the system team to define the interface to the product including fit, assembly features, and tolerance analyses; Deliver any needed specifications including 3D/2D Achieving system goals through mechanical design optimization, prototyping, new material qualification, and manufacturing processes; Audit factories to review the manufacturing and assembly at each step to ensure high yield and high quality; Define & implement validation plans for ME characteristics of the display modules using scientific & analytical approaches; Drive thorough failure analyses for any issues to reach robust corrective actions; Ensure the specifications are met throughout the supply chain; Communicate validation results to peers and leadership; Act as a focal point among multiple world-class cross-functional teams and suppliers to identify open issues, drive them to closure, and deliver mechanically robust displays; and Support the product throughout the architecture, engineering development, mass-production ramp-up, and launch.

Requirements

  • Utilizing 3D CAD to design subcomponent and assemblies used from development through mass production
  • Utilizing design for manufacturing (DFM) knowledge specific to manufacturing processes to negotiate design changes with suppliers
  • Utilizing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to make 2D drawings of 3D parts
  • Supporting battery module, display module, or other consumer module NPI build with process capability analysis and design of experiments (DOE) as necessary to troubleshoot issues
  • Tracking design changes and updates using the bill of materials (BOM) shared with suppliers
  • Summarize failure analysis, assembly data, and DOE results to draw key conclusions for leadership and cross functional review
  • Use solid mechanics, mechanics of statics/dynamics, and statistical analysis to implement and validate NPI mechanical design changes
  • Working with module assembly suppliers or system assembly suppliers for module/system reliability failure analysis in NPI
  • Supporting battery module, display module, or other consumer module NPI build with process capability analysis and design of experiments (DOE) as necessary to troubleshoot issues
  • Working with battery module parts, display module parts, or other consumer module suppliers for module/system reliability failure analysis in NPI
