Modular Solutions Proposal Engineer

Maverick PowerMcKinney, TX

About The Position

The Modular Solutions Proposal Engineer owns technical and commercial quoting for complete modular power solutions serving mission-critical data centers and select industrial markets (oil & gas, renewables/BESS, mining, and utility). This role translates customer requirements and RFPs into a clearly defined scope, configuration, price, and schedule for integrated solutions that may include E-Houses, PDCs, MV/LV skids, switchgear/switchboards, ATS, UPS, battery systems, HVAC, fire detection/suppression interfaces, and related auxiliaries. You will coordinate across engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and field services to produce accurate, competitive proposals with well-defined assumptions and risk controls.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering (Electrical preferred; Mechanical or related engineering acceptable with strong power-module experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in proposal engineering, applications engineering, estimating, or technical sales support for modular power systems or mission-critical power distribution.
  • Demonstrated experience quoting complete solutions (multi-discipline scope) including equipment selection, vendor coordination, and scope definition.
  • Working knowledge of modular electrical-room systems: switchgear/switchboards, transformers, ATS, UPS, batteries, auxiliaries, and the mechanical systems that enable them (HVAC/fire interfaces).
  • Strong proficiency with Excel-based costing and documentation; ability to manage multiple simultaneous opportunities and deadlines.
  • Strong written communication skills to produce clear scopes, clarifications, and assumptions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and work at heights for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct data center power infrastructure quoting experience (PDCs, UPS plants, busway interfaces, modular power rooms).
  • Experience with UL/NRTL scope considerations and how compliance requirements impact cost and schedule.
  • Familiarity with ERP/CPQ/CRM tools (SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, or similar) and structured BOM/pricing systems.
  • Understanding of logistics considerations for large modules (shipping, lifting/rigging, site set, and installation services).
  • Experience supporting renewables/BESS or lithium-ion battery safety-related scope at proposal stage (ventilation, detection, suppression interfaces).

Responsibilities

  • Review RFPs, specifications, and drawings; identify technical requirements, exclusions, and commercial terms that affect scope and price.
  • Define solution architecture and boundaries (what is included in the module vs. site work), including interconnect responsibilities and battery-room safety interfaces.
  • Develop and document assumptions, deviations, and clarifications to ensure quote accuracy and reduce execution risk.
  • Work with electrical/mechanical/controls engineering to select standard and custom configurations for E-Houses, PDCs, and skids based on performance requirements and schedule.
  • Create proposal-level technical documentation (scope of supply, system descriptions, block diagrams/one-line excerpts as appropriate, compliance statements, and option lists).
  • Coordinate vendor quotations and technical inputs for major components (switchgear, transformers, UPS, batteries, HVAC, fire systems, monitoring).
  • Build and maintain cost models and bill-of-material frameworks; evaluate labor, material, overhead, logistics, and test/commissioning costs.
  • Develop lead-time and schedule estimates, including manufacturing duration, FAT/SAT, shipping, and field services where applicable.
  • Drive internal review/approval workflows (pricing, margin, technical risk, delivery commitments) and prepare final commercial proposal packages.
  • Lead quote clarifications with customers and internal teams; support technical presentations and solution alignment discussions.
  • Support negotiation phases by providing technically grounded alternatives, value engineering options, and schedule/cost trade studies.
