About The Position

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Modular Inspector (Senior Project Manager) for a Remote Position. This role is within Intertek's Building and Construction division, which offers industry-leading services across architecture, engineering, and construction disciplines. The Modular Inspector will travel to client manufacturing facilities and sites to conduct inspections according to approved quality procedures, plans, and state rules and regulations. This position requires at least 80% travel.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of past building inspection experience (modular/state program experience preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including overnight travel and, when required, international travel
  • Working knowledge of building construction methods and code compliance
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and approved plans
  • Ability to perform and document factory inspections, identify deficiencies, and verify corrective actions
  • Basic computer skills for completing inspection reports, photographs, email, and electronic project documentation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with manufacturers, engineers, plan reviewers, project managers, and regulatory personnel
  • ICC C5 – Commercial Combination Inspector (Required)
  • B2 Building + E2 Electrical + M2 Mechanical + P2 Plumbing
  • California HCD Factory-Built Housing FBH License (Ability to obtain within 6 months of employment)
  • ICC Commercial/Residential Building Inspector certifications (Ability to obtain within 6 months of employment)

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-plant inspections: Inspect modular units, components, and building systems during manufacturing.
  • Verify compliance: Compare work against approved drawings, specifications, engineering requirements, codes, and program standards.
  • Inspect construction and materials: Review concealed construction and verify materials, components, equipment, and assemblies meet approved requirements.
  • Monitor quality control: Verify compliance with approved QA/QC procedures and review required production, inspection, and corrective-action records.
  • Document inspections: Prepare inspection reports, photographs, observations, and production support documentation.
  • Support certification: Verify completed units meet applicable requirements before certification, labeling, or state insignia is authorized.
  • Conduct audits: Perform periodic plant audits and surveillance inspections to ensure continued compliance.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders: Work with manufacturers, engineers, project managers, Intertek staff, and regulatory personnel.
  • Travel: Travel to manufacturing facilities throughout the U.S. and, when required, internationally.
