About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Modification Mechanic F&H B to join our team in Tukwila, WA. This role involves determining work assignments, reviewing paperwork and drawings, and performing mechanical modifications on aircraft to meet customer requirements. The position requires operating various lifts, using precision measurement tools, and ensuring work is completed to engineering specifications. The mechanic will also be responsible for checking their own work and others', submitting jobs for inspection, performing rework, handling hazardous materials, and consulting with management and other departments on job-related issues.

Requirements

3+ years of experience as a machinist, mechanic, or other mechanical aptitudes
3+ years of experience in mechanical troubleshooting, disassembly, and repair
Experience reading and interpreting system prints and schematics

Responsibilities

Determine work assignment based on schedule or direction from supervisor.
Review paperwork and drawings to determine work to be accomplished.
Assist in locating work area using drawings, IP, OSIP, NCO, or other paperwork.
Obtain and verify pre-picked detail parts (kits), standards, and assemblies.
Ensure that parts issued are effective for the airplane and are free of visible defects.
Operate mechanical lifts of various types to locate parts/assemblies into position or to perform assembly work.
Use precision measurement tools to measure dimensions per drawing, sketches, and engineer requirements.
Incorporate changes to aircraft to reconfigure to customer requirements.
Install or rework interior and/or exterior components to engineering specifications.
Check own work as well as others as requested after completion of each operation.
Submit completed job or in-process checks to inspector at appropriate steps in sequence.
Perform rework as required (e.g., pick-ups, special repairs).
Consult with management and/or others on process/schedules or job-related issues as required.
Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner.
