About The Position

At Northrop Grumman, we drive innovations that define possible. We’re seeking a Systems Engineering Manager 2 to lead and elevate our Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) capabilities in support of evolving mission needs. This is a dual role that combines technical project execution with people leadership, focused on delivering credible, mission-focused systems solutions. As an integral part of our Foundational Systems Engineering department located in Linthicum, MD, you will focus on architecting the delivery of capabilities across multiple programs through the development and use of advanced models and simulations of platforms, sensors, weapons, and their interactions with the environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience, a Master's degree with 6 years of experience, or a PhD with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineer, or Mathematics or other related technical fields.
  • U.S Citizenship is required.
  • A current / active U.S Government Secret Clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain Special Program Access.
  • 1 year of experience in people management or leading engineering teams/IPTs.
  • Demonstrated experience in RF Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A).

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or other related technical fields.
  • Active U.S Government Top Secret Clearance or higher.
  • Experience leading functional or programmatic teams of 10+ engineers.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Bash or C shell scripting on the Linux and Windows computing environments.
  • Domain experience in simulations of Radar/EW/ESM.
  • Experience working with digital signal processing and complex valued signal data.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills; ability to diagnose performance issues and translate mission needs into actionable engineering approaches.
  • Knowledge of Agile/SAFe, EVMS, CAM, or similar methodologies.
  • Experience architecting environments and tools for large-scale simulation data aggregation and visualization.
  • Proven record of unifying technical solutions across product lines and guiding technical alignment.
  • Experience building and maintaining customer trust, including representing technical capabilities to customers and inter-agency partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and manage a team of engineers supporting MS&A initiatives.
  • Provide engineering staffing to programs.
  • Support Compensation planning.

  • Maintain and apply engineering processes, tools, and standards.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering sector-wide collaboration.
  • Review proposal content, develop department initiatives, and drive technology roadmaps.
  • Utilize Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) of advanced systems using C++ object-oriented design, advanced data structures and test-driven development.
  • Develop large scale data analytics, probabilities, and statistics, including the application of design of experiment techniques for the evaluation of system and mission performance.
  • Integrate MS&A with operational flight software, collecting and analyzing data from laboratory or flight tests, the verification and validation of simulation performance against flight test data, and formally verifying that the models meet specified requirements.
  • Produce publication quality reports which define the foundation for simulation credibility across all stakeholders and provide the artifacts to support formal simulation Verification, Validation and Accreditation (VVA).
  • Lead teams to solve problems and architect improvements across MS&A product lines.
  • Perform IQ-fidelity modeling and simulation to inform operational analysis and mission effectiveness.
  • Design simulation architectures to supports trade studies for emerging contract proposals.
  • Develop new and/or integrates existing system simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms, threat models and command and control models.
  • Model operational environments, performs trade studies via computer simulation and recommends alternative architectures.
  • Simulate real-time operations and develops software that simulates behavior of systems.
  • Architect ecosystems and tools that aggregate large simulation output datasets into deliverable visual formats.
  • Define and propagate MS&A Best Practices through new tool adoption across programs.
