We provide Subject Matter Experts (SME) free of Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) focused on independent analysis and mission support services within the disciplines of Engineering, Counter Terrorism Operations, Management, Information Technology, Signals Analysis, Administration, Cyber Security and Linguistics. FTS has as opportunity for a Modeling, Simulation & Analysis Engineer in Chantilly, VA. The Modeling, Simulation & Analysis Engineer will lead complex analytic studies that shape system designs, capability deployment strategies, and risk-informed trade decisions across the space domain.

Requirements

  • TS/SCI with polygraph
  • B.S. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) in engineering discipline
  • 10+ years of relevant experience performing analysis or Mod/Sim in space systems, aerospace, defense, or telecommunications engineering
  • Proven experience conducting complex engineering analysis involving data collection, structuring, visualization, and performance assessment
  • Experience leading analytic studies and presenting findings to senior technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive and government decision-makers
  • Demonstrated ability to guide analytic strategy, manage priorities, and work independently with limited oversight

Nice To Haves

  • Experience integrating MS&A results into MBSE environments using SysML and digital thread workflows
  • Experience developing and maintaining MBSE models and integrating data across analytic and architecture modeling tools
  • Experience with data visualization platforms such as Tableau or similar
  • Experience in the development and sustainment of analytical modeling tools and enterprise-level simulation frameworks

Responsibilities

  • Lead advanced orbital mechanics modeling & simulation (Mod/Sim) efforts for end-to-end space systems including space, ground, and cloud-based mission segments
  • Design, execute, and review modeling and simulation studies supporting constellation design, orbital maneuvering, orbit determination, and payload collection optimization
  • Lead performance analysis including link budgets, throughput, coverage analysis, latency modeling, network routing, and system availability assessments for space system architectures
  • Perform technical evaluations of satellite payload sensor phenomenology (optical, radar, and RF) and assess resulting mission product quality
  • Evaluate end-to-end architectures against Required Performance Parameters and define Technical Performance Measures to drive capability decisions and system integration
  • Produce and review MS&A documentation including study plans, modeling assumptions, analytic results, visualizations, conclusions, and briefing products suitable for senior-level audiences
  • Serve as a technical advisor to government and contractor leadership, shaping roadmaps for future analytic planning and identifying follow-on study needs
  • Mentor junior and mid-level analysts and contribute to improving analytic methodologies, modeling tools, and digital engineering integration practices
