What You Will Do Pratt & Whitney seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Engineer II to support the Engine Design & Systems Integration (EDSI) area. The EDSI organization is a multi-functional group that provides system-level engineering solutions to meet customer requirements. As a Modeling, Operability & Performance Engineer, you will provide technical support to the development, analysis, and validation of engine propulsion models and associated operability and performance deliverables. The individual will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure accurate modeling, robust operability assessments, and high-fidelity performance predictions across all engine programs and development phases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 2 years of engineering experience, or an Advanced Degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak English.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of gas turbine engine fundamentals, with emphasis on engine propulsion and component matching analyses.
  • Familiarity with agile development methods
  • Experience with NPSS, Python, MATLAB, or similar modeling/data-analysis tools.
  • Exposure to engine development cycles, test environments, or design reviews.
  • Communication and teamwork abilities to work within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Experience supporting propulsion system performance or operability tasks in an aerospace setting.
  • Knowledge in Data Analytics, Machine Learning, and/or Model Based System Engineering.
  • Communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Design and validate engine component updates of NPSS models from system and subsystem requirements in accordance with AS5571 guidelines.
  • Perform engine performance analyses in support of design studies, trade evaluations, testing, and program-level decision-making.
  • Contribute to operability assessments, including surge margin analysis, transient behavior review, limit definition, and support to flight/test readiness activities.
  • Assist in processing and analyzing engine test data to calibrate models, verify performance, and validate operability assumptions.
  • Generate technical documentation, presentations, and reports to communicate model results, performance trends, risks, and recommendations to engineering teams and leadership.
  • Collaborate with systems, controls, aero/thermal, structures, and test teams to ensure integrated, consistent, and high-quality technical products.
  • Support troubleshooting and root-cause investigations of discrepancies between predicted and measured performance or operability metrics.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance modeling tools, analysis methodologies, and workflows.
  • Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company.
