About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Modeling Engineer-Scientist to support the Next Generation Submarine Battery program in Crane, IN. This role involves developing, enhancing, and validating thermal and electrochemical models to support battery system design and performance assessment. The engineer will apply MATLAB for model development, simulation, and analysis, and support modeling activities related to multi-physics interactions within NiZn, Lead-Acid, and Lithium battery systems. The position also includes assisting with the development of complex thermal and electrochemical models.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related scientific discipline and five (5) years of experience
  • Experience with thermal modeling
  • Proficiency in MATLAB
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team‑based, technical environment
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance; can start once interim clearance is granted.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in electrical and chemical modeling
  • Familiarity with ANSYS thermal modeling tools
