About The Position

Teledyne Brown Engineering is hiring a Modeling and Simulation Systems Engineer to join our Medical Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis team in support of the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC). The Systems Engineer will support the development of military medical software tools by leading requirements development, coordinating with government stakeholders and end users, and supporting delivery of modern medical planning, logistics, and decision-support capabilities for the Department of Defense.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant systems engineering, requirements development, software development support, technical program support, or related experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience developing, documenting, managing, and tracing system requirements throughout the systems engineering lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles, requirements management practices, and technical documentation standards.
  • Experience supporting software-intensive systems and coordinating with software development teams.
  • Understanding of verification, validation, test planning, and user acceptance testing methodologies.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary technical teams, including analysts, developers, testers, and subject matter experts.
  • Ability to translate stakeholder needs and operational workflows into clear, testable technical requirements.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, reports, briefings, and customer-facing deliverables.
  • Familiarity with programming or scripting in any language.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • 5 or more years preferred experience.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense programs.
  • Experience working within the Military Health System.
  • Knowledge of military medical operations, combat casualty care, military medical logistics, expeditionary medicine, or healthcare delivery systems.
  • Experience with medical software tools, healthcare information systems, medical modeling and simulation, or operational decision-support tools.
  • Experience using requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar platforms.
  • Experience supporting modernization initiatives for government healthcare, defense, logistics, or operational planning systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the elicitation, analysis, documentation, and management of system requirements from stakeholders, operational users, analysts, and subject matter experts.
  • Develop and maintain requirements traceability throughout the system lifecycle, including linkage between user needs, system requirements, software requirements, verification activities, and delivered capabilities.
  • Support the development of system architectures, concepts of operation (CONOPS), workflows, use cases, interface definitions, and technical roadmaps.
  • Coordinate with software developers, analysts, government customers, and end users to ensure requirements are clearly understood, implemented, tested, and validated.
  • Participate in system design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and other program execution activities.
  • Develop verification and validation strategies and support test planning, test case development, user acceptance testing, and documentation of test results.
  • Translate operational medical planning, medical logistics, and military medicine stakeholder needs into actionable technical requirements.
  • Author technical documentation, requirements packages, reports, briefings, and customer deliverables.
  • Interface directly with customers and stakeholders throughout all phases of the development lifecycle.
  • Present technical findings, requirements status, risks, and recommendations to government customers and program leadership.
  • Support fielding, training, sustainment, and user support activities as required.
  • Manage data pipelines for acquiring data from other DoD systems.
  • Work within and assist in maintaining the program’s CMMI Development Maturity Level 3 processes and procedures.
