About The Position

deciBel Research is looking an experienced Modeling and Simulation engineer to support operations at the National Air and Space intelligence Center, Wright Patterson AFB, OH. In this position, the successful candidate will provide support related to electronic warfare models, networked data processing and data fusion, navigation models, pilot and/or agent models, and aircraft simulators. Work performed will include modeling and simulation tasks, technical analysis of system capabilities to include review of OSINT documents, validation and verification testing, model integration tasks, writing of Threat Verification and Validation Reports (TVVR), and other tasks associated with threat modeling and simulation process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or physics discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in the use of modeling and simulation software development frameworks.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
  • A basic understanding of aerospace system functions and dynamics, and how to model them, such as detailed sub-system models and flight dynamics models.
  • Demonstrated abilities to solve difficult hardware and software integration challenges.
  • Demonstrated skills in communicating complex technical issues and in providing comprehensive written, oral and/or digital products (including document organization and technical writing).
  • Proven analytic skills and the ability to apply these skills in a multi-tasking environment where more than one project may require his/her participation at a given time (typically one primary project and one or two ancillary projects).
  • Familiarity with contractor and government roles in applying intelligence analysis to aerospace system development and acquisition.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in an engineering or physics discipline.
  • Professional training in modeling and simulation as related to space, missile, or aircraft system performance/dynamics.
  • At least one additional programming/software development language (C, C++, Python).
  • Familiarity with TMAP, AFSIM, ITASE, NGTS, or JSE.
  • Familiarity with the Department of Defense (DoD) and the United States Intelligence Community (IC).
  • Specific experience developing mathematical models of aerospace vehicle dynamics, guidance navigation, and control components and algorithms.
  • A basic understanding of system component integration and the ability to model entire systems or individual components, such as sensors, GNC, propulsion, aerodynamics, etc., to varying levels of detail will be expected.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support related to electronic warfare models, networked data processing and data fusion, navigation models, pilot and/or agent models, and aircraft simulators.
  • Perform modeling and simulation tasks.
  • Conduct technical analysis of system capabilities, including review of OSINT documents.
