This role is responsible for maintaining and administering the company’s model governance and assumption governance frameworks, aligning with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. The Model Risk Actuary will identify, assess, monitor, and report on model risk within the company’s enterprise risk management framework. This position serves as the secretary to the Company’s Model and Assumption Governance Committee and is responsible for maintaining comprehensive inventories of all models and assumptions used within the company. The role involves performing independent validations of actuarial and financial models, leading the annual review of model risk rating classifications, and overseeing model change processes to ensure proper testing, documentation, and approval before deployment. Additionally, the Model Risk Actuary will monitor model limitations, uncertainties, and potential biases, support the usage of standardized model and assumption governance tools and templates, and manage and support the annual review of the Company’s actuarial assumptions. The role also provides support for the technical review of pricing initiatives, collaborates with actuarial, finance, underwriting, and risk teams to embed model risk awareness, and provides training and guidance on model risk principles. Support for the implementation of a data governance framework applicable to actuarial and/or financial uses of data is also a key responsibility, along with other tasks as assigned.
