About The Position

The Model Maker 1 responsibilities include but are not limited to fabricating prototype parts from sketches and prints, and assembling engineering prototype units for testing in engineering labs. This role involves working within well-defined instructions and processes under guidance. The primary goal is to manufacture and create basic parts, then assemble them to make working prototypes and 3D models of new designs or design improvements for testing and fit and function.

• Basic brazing skills with different materials.
• Basic machine knowledge setup and running.
• Basic product knowledge.
• Basic coil circuiting.
• Basic Cad drawing skills and machine programming skills.
• Basic machine maintenance knowledge.
• Analytical thinking and problem solving.
• Ability to learn how to operate a 3D printer.
• 0-2 years of progressive experience with model making or equivalent work experience.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

• Machinist Classes or Sheet metal classes/ Vocational Training / Certifications preferred.
• Brazing Certification (in house training).
• Welding Certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operate various machines to bore, cut, drill, form, grind, mill, shape, turn, etc.
• Assemble, fit, and adjust numerous components, details, and mechanisms to obtain accurate alignment, clearance, relationship, and operation.
• Fabricate parts from prints, sketches, or various devices and recommendations.
• Support building prototype and developmental units for testing and for fit and function of design.
• Maintain an organized workstation and practice good housekeeping.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards, policies, and practices as well as company standards and quality control procedures.
• Manufacture, create basic parts and assemble parts to make working prototype and working 3D models of new designs or design improvements on product for testing and fit and function.
• Perform other job duties as needed and required.
