About The Position

For this opportunity, we are seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented Model-Based Systems Engineer to lead system architecture development and verification traceability for a complex defense communications capability, applying MBSE methods to decompose functionality and allocate it across hardware, software, firmware, and LRUs while ensuring all modeling outputs are technically accurate, consistent, and aligned with certification and acceptance expectations in close collaboration with government and vendor stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Systems engineering fundamentals: Requirements development, architecture definition, functional decomposition, traceability, and verification planning.
  • MBSE proficiency: Demonstrated experience using MBSE to develop system architecture and maintain verification traceability.
  • Allocation experience: Ability to allocate system functionality/requirements across hardware, software, firmware, and LRUs.
  • Verification/certification support: Experience supporting test planning, verification activities, and/or certification-related engineering efforts.
  • Stakeholder leadership & collaboration: Strong communication skills, able to lead technical discussions with government/vendor stakeholders and work effectively with SMEs.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • 5 + years of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • EMC/Link 16 domain knowledge: Familiarity with EMC certification/acceptance testing (including DoD Manual 4650.01) and Link 16 operational/RF concepts is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining end-to-end traceability between requirements, architecture/functions, and verification/test artifacts (objectives, cases, criteria, procedures).
  • Leading technical working sessions with SMEs to define, validate, and document system-to-test mappings and underlying assumptions.
  • Supporting certification planning and change-impact analysis by producing model-derived artifacts (e.g., traceability matrices, test boundary analyses) and sustaining model structure to identify impacts from hardward/firmware/software updates.
