About The Position

The Model‑Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) plays a central role in developing and maintaining the authoritative Systems Modeling Language (SysML) system model that supports the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center – Navy (JITTC‑N) flight simulation environment. Using Cameo Systems Modeler, the MBSE ensures architectural accuracy, maintains the system’s “single source of truth,” and translates operational needs into clear, actionable models. The role also develops supporting 2D/3D technical documentation—such as network diagrams, rack elevations, and wiring schematics—to support procurement, installation, integration, and maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • Initiative and strong work ethic with the ability to work independently, collaborate with teams, and solve complex problems in a development and prototyping environment.
  • Strong analytical thinking to identify issues, interpret data, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Clear, concise communication skills to document, present, and explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Effective collaboration and schedule awareness to support contract milestones and program success.
  • Candidates must meet one of the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 9 years of relevant experience
  • Master’s degree in a related field and 7 years of relevant experience
  • Doctorate (Ph.D.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) in a related field and 4 years of relevant experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 13 years of relevant experience
  • Hands‑on proficiency with SysML and Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Ability to build, manage, and maintain complex system models end‑to-end.
  • Experience producing and maintaining 2D/3D technical drawings using Microsoft Visio and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to generate architecture products for diverse engineering and program stakeholders.
  • Understanding of network architecture (TCP/IP, routing, switching), server infrastructure, virtualization, and cybersecurity boundaries.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have held an active Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret clearance within the last 24 months.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD TS/SCI and applicable Special Access Program (SAP) / Special Access Required (SAR) clearances.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with flight simulation systems, Live‑Virtual‑Constructive (LVC) environments, or related DoD systems.
  • Familiarity with the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) or Unified Architecture Framework (UAF).
  • Exposure to cybersecurity principles and the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • MBSE‑related certification such as the OMG‑Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP).
  • Experience scripting within Cameo to automate model validation or report generation.
  • Experience supporting integration labs, test events, or complex system deployments.

Responsibilities

  • System Model Development: Build, manage, and maintain the authoritative SysML model using Cameo Systems Modeler, representing both current and planned system states.
  • Requirements Management: Translate stakeholder needs into formal, verifiable system and subsystem requirements within the model.
  • Architectural Modeling & Analysis: Model system structure, behavior, interfaces, and interactions; generate formal assessments to support CCB decision‑making.
  • Technical Drafting & Visualization: Create and maintain 2D/3D technical materials—including network diagrams, rack elevations, wiring drawings, and facility/component layouts—using Microsoft Visio and AutoCAD.
  • Stakeholder Documentation: Produce tailored architectural views, reports, matrices, and specifications to support program management, engineering teams, cybersecurity, and Test & Evaluation (T&E) stakeholders.

Benefits

  • We offer competitive benefits such as best-in-class medical, dental and vision plan choices; wellness resources; employee assistance programs; Savings Plan Options (401(k)); financial planning tools, life insurance; employee discounts; paid holidays and paid time off; tuition reimbursement; as well as early childhood and post-secondary education scholarships.
