About The Position

Goddard Riverside invests in people and strengthens communities, serving over 20,000 individuals across New York City with diverse programs for all ages. Operating within a social justice framework, Goddard aims to create a fair society where individuals can make choices leading to better lives. As a partner in the Manhattan Outreach Consortium (MOC), a city-wide initiative to assist the unsheltered, Goddard plays a crucial role. The Downtown team specifically serves lower Manhattan, collaborating with community partners and healthcare agencies. Their catchment area spans from 23rd Street and below, from river to river. The purpose of this position is to directly supervise Housing Outreach Specialists who provide case management services to single adults experiencing street homelessness in the Downtown Goddard catchment area. This role involves coordinating and supporting the team's daily operations and functioning as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • LMSW required
  • Ability to obtain 9.58 Designation
  • Prior clinical experience with homelessness, mental health, and/or substance abuse
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets the agency's auto insurance guidelines (including no suspensions within the last 3 years)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to learn computer databases such as Streetsmart, MOCAPP and CARES

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English preferred
  • Understanding of homelessness, housing first and harm reduction models preferred

Responsibilities

  • Direct oversight of caseload, data collection, funder reporting and other administrative duties
  • Provide clinical supervision to Housing Outreach Specialists; conduct weekly supervision to review client status and goals for assigned staff
  • Manage disciplinary issues, as they arise
  • Advise staff re: clinical assessment of clients and need for hospitalization, coordinate 9.58 as needed
  • Support outreach team in the performance of client intake, clinical assessment, service planning, advocacy, referral and escort services to assist in housing placement
  • Carry a small caseload of clients
  • Rotating on-call support to the team on evenings, overnights and weekends
  • Interface with various community agencies, funders and stakeholders relevant to our client population
  • Attend staff meetings, case conferences, training programs and supervision meetings; participate in program evaluation and improvement
  • Oversight of program’s contractual obligations
  • Participate in outreach trips to identify and communicate with homeless clients
  • Assist Outreach staff in canvassing, Joint Operations, DHS Clean-ups as needed
  • Participate in 4 overnight counts each year
  • Other duties as required
