About The Position

As our Mobility Program Technician, you will assist with patient mobility, including transfers to chairs, ambulation to the bathroom, and ambulation in the hallway, in accordance with our mission and core values. Every day you will provide direct patient care under the supervision of therapists and Registered Nurses, specifically focusing on supporting patients' safe and effective movement. This involves assisting patients with transfers, ambulation, and exercises as directed by the clinical team, contributing directly to their rehabilitation goals. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate compassion, attentiveness to patient needs, and precise adherence to instructions from therapists and RNs. Your ability to safely and effectively facilitate patient mobility, communicate clearly with the clinical team, and contribute to a supportive and therapeutic environment will be essential.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate general studies and Two years of direct patient care in the last three years., upon hire or High School GED general studies and Two years of direct patient care in the last three years., upon hire
  • Experience using safe patient handling equipment and a strong background in understanding its value and impact on reducing injuries and patient outcomes.
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
  • Certified Nursing Assistant: CA, within 6 - months upon hire or Athletic Trainer: CA, upon hire or Occupational Therapy Assistant: CA, upon hire or Physical Therapy Assistant: CA, upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in providing education,training, and providing care in the acutehospital or critical care settings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist leaders and staff to organize, launch, and sustain the facility’s early and ongoing progressive mobility programs for MSJMC and strategically aligns this initiative with other hospital initiatives
  • Participate and contribute expertise to other initiatives that support patient outcomes such as; fall and pressure ulcer prevention, bariatric programs and progressive mobility programs.
  • Promote awareness and SPHM programs to internal and external entities (i.e. ambulance and fire services and nursing students present in the facilities).
  • Collaborate with and assist SPHM, Rehab, Nursing, and Respiratory Therapy leaders with analyzing data, identifying and implementing potential strategies to enhance early and ongoing progressive mobility program outcomes related to reducing patient handling injuries, length of stay, and hospital acquired conditions.
  • Initiate/participate in unit based meetings relating to early and ongoing progressive mobility efforts/ programs that seek to identify risks and opportunities within the organization.
  • Recommend, select, and/or retrieve appropriate equipment needed to safely mobilize patients per specific patient area.
