About The Position

This is an entry-level position perfect for new graduates holding a Bachelor's degree. Masters level candidates are considered overqualified and are encouraged to apply to Clinical Exercise Physiologist positions. The role provides services for the inpatient population, including patient assessment and activity progression/adjustment under the direction of an RN and/or provider. It involves collaborating and coordinating early mobility and activities using a multi-disciplinary approach, working with other rehabilitation departments for timely evaluations and disposition recommendations, and providing ongoing education regarding adaptive equipment, lifts, and mobilization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiologist, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or other health-related discipline
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Responsibilities

  • Provides activity progression for patients in the hospital utilizing patient status and direction from nursing and/or provider.
  • Recognizes contraindications to activity and abnormal patient responses.
  • Provides feedback to medical professionals and physicians as appropriate.
  • Updates patient EMR as directed, including white boards and other tools of communication.
  • Provides annual/ongoing education regarding mobility/body mechanics/mechanical lifts and other adaptive equipment.
  • Collaborates with other rehabilitation service lines to ensure a timely disposition recommendation and implementation of mobility and other appropriate activities.
  • Assists staff in activity order clarification to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Encourages growth and development throughout AGH in regards to early mobility and the role of the Mobility Coordinator/Coach.
  • Assists in screening patients using the JH- mobility scale and recommending appropriate rehabilitation consults (PT/OT/CPRehab).
  • Engages patients/family in their daily activity goals.
