About The Position

HDR is seeking a Mobility and Safety Market Leader to join its North Carolina Transportation Business Group. The role combines client and project management, market-sector growth, business development, pursuit leadership, and technical expertise in transportation mobility and safety. The Market Leader will develop client relationships, identify opportunities, help secure contracts, promote HDR services, and collaborate with leadership and client service managers on growth initiatives. The position also provides technical leadership for highway projects involving signal, signing, pavement marking, traffic control, and/or intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and may assume project management duties as needed. HDR’s Transportation Business Group works across disciplines to address mobility challenges and deliver transportation systems that support connected communities, economic vitality, public safety, sustainability, resilience, and quality of life. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
A minimum of 10 years of experience.
Professional registration, license, or certification may be required based on the role.
Strong communication and listening skills.
Ability to handle multiple assignments.
Good leadership and organizational skills.
Commitment to actively participating in HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, planning, or a related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Experience working with NCDOT.
Local candidates are preferred.
Experience developing and managing strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services.
Experience developing and managing a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits.
Experience in staff development, including recruiting, career paths, and professional growth.
Experience with industry associations and a visible profile in the market sector.

Responsibilities

Serve as a client manager and project manager for key clients in the area.
Identify and qualify pursuit opportunities.
Plan, direct, and monitor key projects to support a positive client experience.
Assess the marketplace and determine the best approach to secure contracts.
Promote the marketing and delivery of HDR services to clients.
Develop and implement market-sector growth initiatives with leadership and client service managers.
Work with pursuit teams to develop clients and pursuit strategies using proven capture techniques.
Participate in industry associations and community organizations to elevate HDR’s brand in target markets.
Identify investments in talent, acquisitions, and technology to improve HDR’s industry leadership position.
Develop relationships with senior leaders in key client organizations.
Partner with leadership on recruiting key talent.
Monitor market-sector performance indicators, including NFE, NFB, profits, positive equity, AR, losses, and investments.
Achieve Area Market Sector NFB goals.
Engage appropriate project management and technical talent in pursuit teams.
Support pursuit teams in developing persuasive proposal and interview materials.
Support or perform quality reviews of proposal and interview materials.
Facilitate debriefs to identify improvement opportunities and measure competitiveness.
Recognize and celebrate pursuit successes and milestones.
Support development of content marketing campaigns to strengthen HDR’s brand, increase visibility, and showcase thought leaders.
Serve as the lead technical role in detailed development of signal, signing, pavement marking, traffic control, and/or ITS for highway projects.
Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization, resolving problems of greater scope and complexity.
Perform quality assurance checks on transportation projects.
Assume project management duties as needed.
Perform other duties as needed.
