About The Position

Avis Budget Group is seeking an experienced Mobile Truck Mechanic to join their Budget Truck operations. This role involves performing standard and complex mechanical repairs on a fleet of cargo vans and box trucks with minimal technical supervision. The mechanic will be responsible for preventive maintenance, oil and fluid services, tire repairs, brake and suspension work, electrical diagnostics, and warranty-related repairs. A key aspect of this role is mobile repair, where the mechanic may travel to the vehicle's location to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently. The position requires working on newer vehicles across multiple manufacturers, applying diesel and medium-duty expertise to reduce downtime and improve reliability. The role also includes driving Budget Trucks on public roads for repair or transport needs.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License Class A, B, or C CDL may be required depending on location.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience performing mechanical repairs and diagnostics on medium-duty or heavy-duty equipment.
  • At least 1 ASE certification.
  • Working knowledge across ASE areas including, but not limited to: Engine Repair, Drivetrain/Axles, Suspension/Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Heating/Air Conditioning, Engine Performance, and Light Vehicle/Diesel.
  • Ability to obtain DOT medical clearance.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in a mechanical shop environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Must have a complete set of tools required for automotive and diesel repair.
  • Basic computer skills, including typing and data entry.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, continuously stand, bend, reach, walk, sit and kneel frequently, enter, exit and drive vehicles.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • This position requires regular, on-site presence and cannot be performed remotely.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience is preferred and considered a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Perform standard and complex mechanical repairs on a fleet of cargo vans and box trucks with minimal technical supervision.

  • Expand automotive and diesel repair skills through on-the-job training.
  • Obtain 2 additional ASE certifications within the first year.
