Performing preventative maintenance and repairs on intermodal heavy equipment in an outdoor environment. This position requires a person to travel as needed for extended periods of time within the U.S. but also could be performing work at one specific location for extended period of times. Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in demonstrating the ability to troubleshoot, repair and maintain heavy/industrial equipment
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical and PLCs with the ability to read and understand schematics for both electrical and hydraulics
  • Experienced in working on DC low voltage and AC high voltage circuits
  • Ability/Comfortable in working at elevated heights
  • Possess own tools
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in the presence of loud machinery
  • Ability to recognize all colors in a normal spectrum
  • Ability to work outside in all, sometimes extreme, weather conditions
  • Detail-oriented with an uncompromising safety mindset
  • Basic computer skills in maintaining accurate maintenance records
  • Willingness to travel, up to 80%, to terminals throughout the United States with an emphasis on our East Coast/Midwest Regions
  • Ability to understand and follow all Company and Railroad safety policies

Nice To Haves

  • Railroad or Intermodal experience.
  • Commercial driver’s license (CDL) Class A
  • Basic understanding of VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) or the willingness to learn

Responsibilities

  • Performing preventative maintenance and repairs on intermodal heavy equipment in an outdoor environment.
  • Read electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Repair and maintain heavy intermodal/industrial equipment
  • Performs troubleshooting and repair of systems and components, as required
  • Maintains accurate records, as required
  • Perform detailed equipment inspections and preventative maintenance following OEM specifications.
  • Responds to any customer related equipment requests
  • Ensure compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries.
  • Assist in delivering required training to ensure that all co-workers have the necessary skills to perform their jobs properly and safely.
  • Communicate consistently on all activities to appropriate individuals and adhere to all company-wide policies to eliminate and/or reduce exposure to liability. (internal & external)
  • Special projects or work as assigned.
  • Be willing to be cross-trained and assist in other departments, as required.
  • Travel 80% - Travel to designated terminals throughout the country with an emphasis on our North East and Midwest terminals (including but not limited to Ohio, Kansas City, North/South Carolina, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania).
  • Follow all company and Railroad safety policies.
  • Required to respond to after hour call outs.
  • Perform maintenance on support equipment such as forklifts, man lifts, etc.
  • Other duties or projects, as assigned
