About The Position

Cox Fleet is seeking a Mobile Trailer Technician II to join their team. This is a dedicated on-site position focused on performing certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and light repairs on trailers and equipment at customer sites. The role involves diagnosing and repairing various trailer systems, documenting work performed, and maintaining company-issued equipment and vehicles. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field (Trailers).
  • Alternatively, any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline; or 5 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
  • Must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
  • A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical. If the DOT medical card has four (4) months or less of validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required.
  • Candidates must be at least 21 years or older due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s license, be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File.
  • Class CDL C License required OR OBTAINED WITHIN 18 MONTHS.

Responsibilities

  • Perform certified DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, and light repairs on various trailers and equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, liftgates, and brake chambers.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and replacement of panels, body, and framework.
  • Document work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using a company-issued iOS device and the TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical components.
  • Comply with safe operating practices and procedures.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
  • Apply acquired knowledge to perform job duties and evaluate technical information.
  • Effectively communicate with clients and customers to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve problems.
  • Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
  • Act with integrity, demonstrate honesty, and keep commitments.
  • Respond to call center dispatched unscheduled service and maintenance requests.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, trailer tools, welding equipment, and jacks.
  • Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to Standard Repair Times.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors.
  • Communicate with management and support team for approvals, purchase order numbers, and RO discussions.
  • Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Participate and complete all company-required safety training.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with assigned customers and vendors.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Remain up to date on safety protocols and procedures.
  • Assist Mobile Trailer Technician I with diagnostics.
