About The Position

Skydio is hiring interns for Summer 2027 to help create novel mobile experiences for autonomous drones. The intern will design and refine advanced drone interfaces and develop user interfaces for Skydio’s autonomous flying camera. The role combines Android expertise with Skydio’s Drone Intelligence API to create a polished drone app experience, including augmented reality, in-app content creation, and sharing. Designs will be iterated based on user feedback, internal testing, and piloting Skydio drones.

Requirements

• Be a senior or master’s-level college student; practical project and/or industry experience developing Android mobile applications is expected.
• Have a passion for carefully crafted interfaces that balance ease of use, elegance, and power.
• Value code review and other collaborative development practices.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with C++ and OpenGL.
• Ability to create tools and automate workflows using Python scripts.
• Experience shipping code to the App Store or Google Play and receiving feedback from real users.
• Experience with IoT or embedded devices using the Android NDK.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and refine advanced drone interfaces and polish a consistent mobile experience for release.
• Contribute to developing user interfaces for Skydio’s autonomous flying camera.
• Use Android ecosystem knowledge and the Drone Intelligence API to help develop a drone app experience.
• Improve user experiences with augmented reality, in-app content creation, and sharing capabilities.
• Iterate on designs based on user feedback, internal testing, and personal experience piloting Skydio drones.
