About The Position

Siouxland Community Health Center has a part-time paid opening (approximately 20 hours per week, flexible hours based on school/class schedules, internship could be eligible for school credit) for a Mobile Shower Intern. This role involves preparing and managing the mobile shower unit and supply trailer, assisting guests, maintaining cleanliness, and working with partner organizations to connect individuals with essential resources.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform primary functions of the position.
  • Must be able to prepare site by unlocking and hooking up shower external water lines, electrical power sources, and checking propane tanks lines.
  • Must be able to keep the shower vehicle stocked with towels and wash cloths.
  • Must be able to monitor the needs of the shower supply trailer, such as shorts, t-shirts, socks, underwear, and toiletries.
  • Must be able to manage the people coming to shower, enforcing time limits when needed so all guests receive a turn.
  • Must be able to keep a running number of shower attendees.
  • Must be able to provide each participant with fresh towels/washcloths from the shower trailer.
  • Must be able to distribute basic toiletries and available clothing resources from the shower supply trailer.
  • Must be able to work with partner organizations attending.
  • Must be able to thoroughly spray, scrub, disinfect, and clean individual shower stalls and shower room between each user, along with weekly deep sanitation in each shower room.
  • Must be able to unhook shower external water lines and electrical power sources.
  • Must be able to unhook electrical power source lines for the shower supply (clothing/toiletries) trailer.
  • Must be able to put folding stairs to both units in the storage mode, lock all doors, and bring all trash to the SCHC dumpster.
  • Pre-employment drug screen, background check, and review of required immunizations are required.

Responsibilities

  • Unhook shower external water lines and electrical power sources.
  • Unhook electrical power source lines for the shower supply (clothing/toiletries) trailer.
  • Put folding stairs to both units in the storage mode, lock all doors, and bring all trash to the SCHC dumpster.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
