About The Position

This is a driving-based, multi-site security position. It is not a stationary security assignment. As a Mobile Security Officer, you will operate an assigned Securitas patrol vehicle and travel between client properties throughout the Northern Boston coverage area. This region includes assignments within Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, Medford, Everett, Revere, Peabody, Melrose, and surrounding communities. Officers must be comfortable navigating Boston and nearby urban areas, including one-way streets, changing traffic patterns, limited parking, and unfamiliar locations. Routes may extend from inner Boston communities to locations along the North Shore. You will complete structured security visits, follow client-specific instructions, document your work, and respond appropriately when something is wrong. Assignments may include scheduled or randomized patrol inspections, alarm response, guard checks, temporary site coverage, opening or securing facilities, and other site-specific security services. Officers work independently while remaining in communication with the Securitas operations team.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Clean driving record that meets Securitas Safe Driving requirements.
  • Willingness to operate a company vehicle equipped with Samsara vehicle-safety monitoring.
  • Ability and willingness to follow traffic laws and company driving policies throughout every shift.
  • Comfort driving in Boston and surrounding urban and suburban communities.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English effectively.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to prepare clear activity and incident reports.
  • Comfortable using smartphones, GPS navigation, mobile applications, and digital reporting systems.
  • Ability to work independently, follow detailed instructions, manage time, and remain accountable for completing an assigned route.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to remain calm during alarms, suspicious activity, safety concerns, and emergencies.
  • Dependable attendance and the ability to report to work on time.
  • Availability to work the agreed-upon schedule, including applicable evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to drive for extended periods, frequently enter and exit a vehicle, walk, stand, and climb stairs.
  • Ability to conduct indoor and outdoor patrols in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned coverage area and occasionally assist outside the primary region when required by an emergency or operational need.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of experience in security, mobile patrol, alarm response, military service, law enforcement, public safety, facilities operations, delivery services, or another position involving independent fieldwork and professional driving.
  • Experience driving professionally within Boston or another dense urban area.
  • Experience completing incident reports, conducting property inspections, managing keys or access devices, or responding to dispatched calls.
  • Familiarity with Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, Medford, Everett, Revere, Peabody, Melrose, and surrounding communities.
  • Previous experience working independently with limited direct supervision.
  • Strong customer service experience and a professional, approachable demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate an assigned Securitas patrol vehicle throughout the shift.
  • Follow all traffic laws, Securitas safe-driving requirements, and vehicle-monitoring expectations.
  • Travel between multiple client properties along an assigned route.
  • Arrive at assigned locations within the required service windows.
  • Navigate Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, and surrounding urban and suburban communities safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct exterior and interior patrol inspections according to client-specific instructions.
  • Check buildings, grounds, parking areas, doors, windows, gates, access points, lighting, alarm systems, and other security-related equipment.
  • Identify signs of unauthorized access, forced entry, vandalism, suspicious activity, property damage, fire hazards, blocked exits, leaks, and other unsafe conditions.
  • Complete locking, unlocking, arming, disarming, key-control, or access-related duties when assigned and properly trained.
  • Respond to alarm activations and other dispatched calls, assess conditions from a safe position, and follow established escalation procedures.
  • Contact the Securitas operations team, emergency services, client representatives, or supervisors when required.
  • Conduct guard checks and employee welfare checks and provide temporary site coverage when assigned.
  • Maintain professional communication with clients, employees, visitors, dispatchers, supervisors, and responding emergency personnel.
  • Use GPS, mobile reporting applications, and other technology to document arrivals, departures, patrols, observations, and actions taken.
  • Prepare accurate, timely, and detailed activity and incident reports, including photographs when required.
  • Immediately report security concerns, route delays, vehicle issues, missed services, accidents, or situations requiring additional assistance.
  • Securely maintain assigned keys, access devices, equipment, and patrol vehicles.
