About The Position

The Mobile Security Officer's job goal is to maintain a safe and secure environment for all district students, staff, and visitors by ensuring the school district is prepared to prevent, mitigate possible threats, and effectively respond to both emergency and non-emergency situations that may impact the safety and well-being of our school community. This is a nine (9) month (179 day) contract position, plus a benefits package. Precise placement on the salary schedule will be determined based on experience.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have at least 3 years of related experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • No reckless driving or DWI in the last 7 years.
  • License cannot have been suspended, denied, or revoked in the past 3 years.
  • Must pass a drug test.
  • Must be able to handle the physical demands of security work.
  • Must be able to work in different weather/environmental conditions.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, and operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds.
  • Accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception.
  • Ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period.
  • Ability to be physically present and at assigned work areas, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree or higher is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate school vehicle accidents involving buses or other district vehicles.
  • Investigate incidents and write detailed reports about what occurred.
  • Patrol assigned areas of the city using a cruiser to monitor for safety and security issues.
  • Help transport students with behavioral issues when needed.
  • Observe and report unlawful or suspicious activity.
  • Protect people and property from harm, theft, trespassing, or fire.
  • Handle tense situations calmly using good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Respond to service calls at all locations in the school district.
  • Monitor bus stops to prevent problems.
  • Watch for safety hazards, including fire risks and other security concerns.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both speaking and writing.
  • Work with other officials on scene when incidents occur.
  • Assist school-based officers with safety and security matters.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by management.
  • Work a rotating night shift (Monday - Friday) which includes on-call every 6-7 weeks.
