About The Position

Join Southcoast Health, a not-for-profit, charitable, health system with multiple hospitals, clinics and facilities throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. This position offers a $1,500 new hire sign-on bonus. The hours are 24hrs on a Day/Evening shift, 12:00pm - 8:00pm, with rotation every 4th Sunday, one on-call weekend, and one on-call holiday (major, minor, or a holiday). The location is Mobile Phlebotomy - Dartmouth, MA.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Completion of an approved phlebotomy training program.
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of phlebotomy experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and provide guidance to teammates and community partners.
  • Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in specimen collection and handling.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and provide high-quality service across multiple care settings.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the assigned service area.
  • Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC or equivalent) is required within two years from date of hire.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation are required.
  • Candidates must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and meet organizational requirements for driving.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired.

Nice To Haves

  • One-time phlebotomy certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC or equivalent) required within 2 years from date of hire.
  • Experience working independently in outreach, home care or mobile phlebotomy services preferred.
  • Knowledge of laboratory information systems and electronic order management preferred.
  • Customer service experience in healthcare settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately identifying patients, performing phlebotomy procedures, and ensuring the proper collection, processing, handling, and transportation of laboratory specimens in a variety of community-based settings.
  • Serving as a representative of the laboratory and maintaining professional and collaborative relationships with patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and facility personnel while delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.
  • Traveling regularly throughout the assigned service area to meet patient and operational needs.
