This role is responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide variety of mobile power equipment. The Mobile Mechanic will perform maintenance and repair work on equipment such as mobile air compressors, small trucks, haul trucks, dump trucks, bulldozers, fork lift trucks, graders, and front-end loaders. The position involves completing repairs on gas and diesel powered equipment, assisting in the removal, dismantling, repair, re-assembly, testing, and installation of engines and engine accessories. This includes transmissions (manual and automatic), differentials, clutches, torque converters, steering systems, brake systems, hydraulic cylinders, and hose assemblies. The role also includes assisting in repairing and adjusting ignition, fuel injection, and carburetion systems. Additionally, the Mobile Mechanic will inspect equipment, perform preventive maintenance, lubricate equipment, change and repair tires, change and charge batteries, and put on and remove tire chains as necessary. The position requires the use of hand tools, power tools, and handheld diagnostic equipment, as well as a steam jenny for cleaning equipment and performing acetylene burning and simple welding. The Mobile Mechanic is expected to keep the work area and tools clean and orderly, perform other duties as required or assigned, and ensure the plant area meets or exceeds all safety standards for SGI, performing all work safely.
