About The Position

Keller Trucking is currently in search of a Mobile Mechanic. This position will travel to various locations to diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul the fleet’s semi-truck tractors and trailers, and maintain and repair various types of diesel engines within the fleet. As this is a mobile position, a valid driver’s license is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferably from an accredited Diesel Mechanics program.
  • Basic level of skill in diesel after treatment, air brakes, electrical and lighting systems.
  • Brake certification in accordance with FMCSA § 396.25 required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to manage processes, make decisions and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to be flexible in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • PC skills including but not limited to: MS Word and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with OEM software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain proficiency in the diagnostics and repair of all assigned equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
  • Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
  • Attach test instruments to equipment and read dials and gauges to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, or pressure gauges.
  • Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels.
  • Use hand tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, or precision instruments, as well as power tools, such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, or jacks and hoists.
  • Install, mount, and dismount tires.
  • Read and comprehend service troubleshooting guides using OEM software.
  • Perform safety and annual inspections in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
  • Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns during working hours as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with company/OSHA standards.
  • Assist in the completion of required documentation including vehicle write-ups, work orders, and timecards.
  • Interact courteously and professionally with drivers, vendors, and other employees regarding vehicle repairs.
