About The Position

We are currently seeking a Mobile Maintenance Superintendent to join our Mobile Maintenance Team in Voisey’s Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. Relocation to the province of Newfoundland & Labrador will be required for this role. The role is a permanent on-site position, working 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotational schedule. As a Mobile Maintenance Superintendent, you will direct and supervise all activities of the Mobile Mine Maintenance group including recruitment, planning and mine maintenance expenditures. Your experience and skills will assist in coordinating and managing maintenance activities with various other groups and departments to ensure needs are being met in a timely manner. The department is responsible for the maintenance of all surface and underground mobile equipment at the Voisey’s Bay mine site.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Mining discipline.
  • A minimum of 8 years maintenance experience in an industrial mining environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage team members and celebrate building a strong reliability team in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Operations and Maintenance systems, processes and facilities.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and adaptability skills.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural workforce.
  • Detailed knowledge of heavy equipment and light vehicle maintenance and repair systems in a surface/underground mining environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Red Seal – HDET, T&T, Automotive, or other Mobile Maintenance related trade would be considered an asset.
  • Experience within a unionized environment would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that maintenance is performed to meet mine production targets.
  • Closely liaise with the Mine Operations Superintendent and their teams to ensure that analytical results meet their business requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies for controlling, optimizing and improving the efficiency of the maintenance functions.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and use the knowledge to develop improve maintenance strategies.
  • Evaluate and recommend equipment repair and or replacement.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Mine Maintenance Annual Budget.
  • Provide direct supervision to Mine Maintenance Supervisors and Engineers.
  • Monitor and share KPIs to engage team in improvement initiatives and effectiveness of a structured reliability and maintenance organization.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all work is carried out effectively and efficiently, on time, and on budget and in compliance with all safety policies and procedures and that all work is of the highest quality.
