About The Position

The Mobile Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on mobile equipment used throughout a steel pipe manufacturing facility. This position supports the safe and efficient movement of pipe, raw materials, and finished products by maintaining forklifts, side loaders, pipe handlers, overhead material handling equipment, trailers, and other mobile industrial equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial mobile equipment maintenance experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to operate maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and lifting devices safely
  • Must be proficient in using computers and software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, email systems, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or ERP systems.
  • Must be safety-oriented and team-oriented with a commitment to supporting production and operational needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a commitment to continuous improvement and safe work practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training in diesel mechanics, industrial maintenance, heavy equipment repair, or related field preferred
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, steel mill, pipe mill, warehouse, or heavy industrial environment preferred
  • Knowledge of forklift maintenance and repair
  • Preferred Welding and fabrication experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on forklifts, pipe handlers, side loaders, trailers, and other mobile equipment
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and fuel system issues
  • Inspect equipment to identify worn or damaged components and recommend corrective action
  • Troubleshoot engine, transmission, brake, steering, suspension, and hydraulic system failures
  • Repair and replace motors, pumps, cylinders, hoses, bearings, chains, brakes, and other equipment components
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and ensure equipment meets company and regulatory safety standards
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs to minimize production downtime
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and basic machining as needed to repair equipment and components
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders
  • Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades
  • Coordinate with operations personnel to prioritize repairs and maintenance activities
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in maintenance areas and work sites
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout requirements
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency
  • Perform other duties as assigned
