About The Position

The Mobile iOS Engineer is on the Mobile team, which supports American Family’s Omni-Channel strategy by delivering a consistent, high-quality digital experience for customers. You will be in a supporting role focused on enabling and improving self-service functionality for policyholders, helping drive adoption, retention, and overall customer experience. You will collaborate with the team on all stages of development, from design through production observability. You will report to the Senior Manager, Engineering. In this flex office/home role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from Madison, WI 53783 or Boston, MA 02110. We will not consider candidates who require current or future sponsorship for this position.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience developing customer-driven iOS applications using Swift.
  • Proven ability to apply iOS application architecture patterns (e.g., MVVM, MVC) to build scalable and maintainable code.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating with REST APIs and third-party SDKs.
  • Demonstrated experience translating feature requirements and design mockups into functional and maintainable iOS application code.
  • Solid knowledge of modern mobile development lifecycle, including version control with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and the App Store release process.
  • A strong commitment to quality, demonstrated by writing unit tests (XCTest), participating in code reviews, and debugging effectively within Xcode.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Airship, Optimizely, ForgeRock
  • Interest in mobile observability and performance work (launch-time optimization, main-thread profiling, crash triage).
  • Background in regulated industries (insurance, fintech, healthcare)

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop solutions to the level of quality defined by the requirements in adherence with standards, methodology and internal controls.
  • Understand and identify system dependencies. Understands functionality, integration points and impacts of proposed changes to supporting applications.
  • Follow through with options and recommendations.
  • Provide appropriate documentation for design decisions, estimating assumptions, code modules, and performance metrics as required by organization standards.
  • Define, conduct, and/or participate in testing (i.e. unit, system integration).
  • Collaborate with others regarding effectiveness of systems flow, data usage and manual or automated processes to verify requirements.
  • Ensure software development meets standards for programming, design, performance, quality, and security.
  • Participate in team activities and taking on additional work tasks as needed to help the team accomplish the desired outcome or goals.
  • Create, maintain, and/or enhance system documentation as needed.
