About The Position

The Mobile Golf/Turf Equipment Technician performs diagnostics and repairs on John Deere equipment and technology. This role involves consulting equipment operating manuals, schematics, and drawings, performing scheduled maintenance, and diagnosing malfunctions using computerized tools. The technician will inspect, repair, and replace defective parts, overhaul and test major components, and disassemble/reassemble equipment. A key part of the role is the complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs on work orders, with timely submittal of information. The technician may also participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs to develop skills and knowledge. They are responsible for operating and maintaining vehicles, tools, and equipment, maintaining a clean work area, and following all safety rules and regulations. The role requires maintaining current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products and traveling to various customer locations to perform assigned tasks. All employees, other than remote sales staff, are expected to report to their designated work location and be ready to work at the start of their assigned shift. Other duties may be requested or assigned.

Requirements

  • 2 - 5 years of mechanical experience required
  • Valid Driver's license required
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Driving history suitable for coverage under company insurance
  • Must be able to complete various activities in the shop and at customers’ locations that may require hours of lifting, standing, and carrying, bending, stretching, kneeling, and squatting
  • Must be able to move up to 50 pounds at a time

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of automotive repair, electronics, and/or welding is desired
  • One year of familiarity with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures desired
  • Formal vocational or post-secondary training in diesel technology or equipment mechanics desired
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities
  • Team player, willingness to and be adaptable in challenging situations
  • Familiarity with golf equipment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostics and repairs on John Deere equipment and technology
  • Consults equipment operating manuals, schematics, and drawings
  • Performs scheduled maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating parts
  • Diagnoses and identifies malfunctions, using computerized tools and equipment
  • Inspects, repairs, and replaces defective or worn parts, such as bearings, pistons, and gears
  • Overhauls and tests major components, such as engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Disassembles and reassembles equipment and components
  • Responsible for complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs performed on work orders and on time submittal of information
  • May participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
  • Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required to perform job responsibilities
  • Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
  • Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
  • Travels to and from various customers’ locations to perform assigned tasks
