This role involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, and performing preventative maintenance and repairs on refrigeration units and trailers. The mechanic will also handle minor repairs on door seals, hardware, electrical components, mud flaps, routine telematics, minor body work, and light replacements/repairs. Additionally, the position requires setting up and managing repairs with external vendors for work outside the scope of standard reefer repairs, such as wheel seals/brakes, tires, and major body repairs. The mechanic will work outdoors from a service truck to perform inspections and repairs, conduct reefer PMs, trailer PMs/DOT inspections, and manage parts inventory. Responsibilities include inspecting and repairing various components, reading electrical schematics, utilizing computer systems for work order management, and communicating with internal clients about repair status and decisions. The role also involves assisting other technicians, adhering to safety protocols, and diagnosing unit issues based on alarm codes.
