About The Position

Acme Barricades is seeking a dedicated and goal-oriented Mobile Fleet Mechanic to join their successful team. The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for maintaining vehicle/equipment by completing inspections and preventive maintenance, correcting deficiencies, making adjustments and alignments, and keeping records. Working under the direction of the Fleet Manager, this position involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and facility vehicle/equipment to support daily work activities while adhering to safety objectives and company processes. The role may require working Saturdays as needed, with 8-10 hour shifts.

Requirements

  • Must have electrical and drivability diagnostic experience.
  • 1-3 years of Mechanic experience of Diesel and Gas engines for on-highway vehicles.
  • Light/Medium/Heavy Duty Vehicle & Trailer Repair Experience.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must maintain company standards post-employment for background checks, criminal record, driving record and controlled substance/drug testing.
  • Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations.
  • Computer literacy.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Willing to travel to different branch locations as needed using company provided service truck.
  • May require occasional overnight stay.
  • ASE Certified preferred but not mandatory.
  • Off-Highway equipment experience such as front-end loaders, skid steers, mini excavators, forklifts.
  • Experience in performing Annual Federal DOT Inspections.
  • Class A CDL preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining vehicle/equipment by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Correcting vehicle/equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
  • Keeping vehicle/equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades, controlling corrosion, and completing winterization procedures.
  • Verifying vehicle/equipment performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems.
  • Complying with federal and state vehicle/equipment requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Maintaining vehicle/equipment appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
  • Maintaining vehicle/equipment records by annotating services and repairs.
  • Keeping shop vehicle/equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
  • Containing costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options.
  • Keeping supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining production and facility vehicle/equipment to support daily work activities.
  • Maintaining safety objectives and company processes.
